Laser Tattoo Removal in Rawalpindi

Ink colour determines what the laser can absorb, and therefore how well your tattoo responds. This is physics rather than clinic skill, and it is worth knowing before you start.

Two tattoos of the same size can need very different courses.

Patients frequently ask to be treated sooner, and we decline. The laser only shatters the ink — your immune system removes it, and that takes weeks. Treating again before clearance has happened means firing energy at skin that has not finished recovering, which adds risk without adding benefit.

A clinic that will treat you every two weeks is selling you sessions, not results. The interval is not a scheduling convenience.

Numbing cream is applied beforehand and the area is cooled during treatment. The sensation is commonly described as hot elastic-band snaps or splattering fat — sharper than most laser treatments, but brief, and small tattoos take only minutes.

Immediately afterwards the treated area turns white for a few minutes, a normal response as gas is released within the skin. It then swells, reddens and may blister. Blistering is a recognised part of tattoo removal rather than a complication, though it alarms people who were not warned.

Keep the area clean, covered and dry for the first few days, apply the ointment you are given, and do not pop blisters or pick scabs. This is the single thing most within your control, and picking is the main cause of scarring in tattoo removal.

Avoid swimming, saunas and heavy exercise until the skin has healed, and keep the area completely out of the sun between sessions. Sun exposure on healing skin both raises the pigmentation risk and can force us to postpone your next session.

The honest risks are worth stating. Temporary darkening of the surrounding skin is common on Fitzpatrick IV-V and usually settles over months. Loss of pigment in the treated area is less common but can be long-lasting, and is more visible on deeper skin tones — which is why we start conservatively and build.

Some degree of "ghosting" — a faint shadow of the original design — remains in a proportion of cases, especially with dense or multi-coloured work. Scarring is uncommon with correct technique and aftercare, and considerably more likely if blisters are picked. Where a tattoo was already scarred by the tattooing itself, that scarring will still be there once the ink is gone.

Not everyone wants full removal. If your goal is a cover-up tattoo, you need far fewer sessions — often three or four — because your artist only needs the existing design lightened enough to work over.

Tell us at the start if that is your plan. It changes the course, the cost and the endpoint entirely, and it is a much quicker path to being happy.
