General, Advanced Laparoscopic & Bariatric Surgeon in Rawalpindi

Ayra now offers consultant-led surgery alongside its aesthetics, dental, hair and gynae departments. Dr Asad Amir is an FCPS-qualified general, advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon with over ten years of experience, and he leads surgical care here.

How it works: everything happens at one address in Satellite Town. Your consultation, assessment and investigations are done at the clinic, the operation itself is carried out in the equipped theatre at the same location with anaesthesia and recovery facilities, and your follow-up brings you back to the same surgeon who operated on you. No being handed between a clinic and a hospital across town.

Most of what we treat is the everyday general surgery people put off for years: hernias, gall bladder disease, appendix problems, piles, fissures and fistulas. Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery is used wherever it suits the case, because smaller incisions generally mean less pain and a faster return to normal life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will my operation actually take place?

At the same Satellite Town address as your consultation. The procedure is done in the equipped operating theatre at this location, with anaesthesia and recovery facilities, and the surgeon who assesses you is the surgeon who operates. You will be told exactly what to expect, and for how long, before anything is scheduled.

What is laparoscopic surgery, and is it better?

Laparoscopic or keyhole surgery is done through several small incisions using a camera rather than one large opening. For suitable cases it generally means less pain, a shorter hospital stay and a faster return to work. It is not right for every patient or every case, and your surgeon will tell you honestly which approach suits you.

Do I need surgery for my hernia, or can I leave it?

Many hernias are not urgent, but they do not heal on their own and they tend to get larger. The reason surgeons advise repair is the risk of the hernia becoming trapped, which turns a planned operation into an emergency. A consultation will tell you whether yours needs attention now or can be watched.

Can piles, fissure or fistula be treated without surgery?

Often yes, particularly early on. Many cases settle with medical treatment, diet and local measures, and surgery is reserved for what does not respond or has advanced. Anyone who recommends an operation before trying the simpler options is skipping a step.

How much does surgery cost?

The consultation fee is listed on this site. The cost of an operation depends on the procedure, the approach used, and the theatre, anaesthesia and stay it requires — so it is quoted after assessment rather than advertised as a fixed figure. You will have the full picture in writing before anything is scheduled.

How long is the recovery?

It depends entirely on the procedure and the approach. A keyhole gall bladder removal and an open abdominal operation have very different recoveries. Your surgeon will give you a realistic timeline for your specific case, including when you can drive, work and lift.
