Gynaecology
Gynaecologist in Rawalpindi
Our gynaecology department provides routine women’s health care: menstrual problems, hormonal assessment, PCOS, family planning, antenatal care and general well-woman checks. Consultations are with a female doctor.
One practical advantage worth knowing about: the clinic has diagnostic testing on site. A great many gynaecological consultations end with a request for blood tests, and the usual outcome is that the patient is sent elsewhere, delays it, and never returns with the results. Here the tests are done at the same visit, which is the difference between a diagnosis and an intention.

What we see most
Most consultations fall into a handful of categories, and most of them are far more treatable than patients expect after months of waiting.
- Irregular, absent, heavy or painful periods
- PCOS — irregular cycles with acne, unwanted hair growth, hair thinning or weight change
- Hormonal symptoms, including those of perimenopause and menopause
- Difficulty conceiving, and initial fertility assessment
- Contraception and family planning advice
- Recurrent infections, discharge and pelvic discomfort
- Routine well-woman checks and pregnancy care
PCOS, and why it is worth treating properly
Polycystic ovary syndrome is extremely common here and frequently managed as a collection of separate complaints — acne at one clinic, unwanted facial hair at another, irregular periods at a third, hair thinning somewhere else — with nobody joining them together.
It is one condition with one hormonal driver, and treating that driver improves all of it. Ayra is unusually well suited to this because the gynaecology, dermatology and laser departments are in the same building: the hormonal management, the acne treatment, the hair-thinning assessment and the laser hair removal can be planned together rather than in four disconnected places. PCOS also carries longer-term metabolic implications that deserve monitoring, which is a reason to have it managed rather than worked around.
Heavy and painful periods are not something to endure
A large number of women here have been told that severe period pain, or bleeding heavy enough to disrupt work and daily life, is simply normal and must be tolerated. It is very often not normal, and it very often has a cause that can be identified and treated.
Fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, thyroid disease and clotting disorders all present this way, and all are manageable. Heavy bleeding is also a common cause of the iron deficiency that leaves women exhausted and losing hair, and which is then treated as a separate problem entirely. If your periods interfere with your life, that is a reason to be assessed.
Fertility: the sensible first step
Couples in Pakistan are frequently pushed towards expensive assisted reproduction before basic assessment has been done, and a significant proportion of difficulty conceiving has a straightforward, identifiable and treatable cause — ovulation problems, thyroid disease, PCOS.
The right starting point is a basic assessment of both partners, because a meaningful share of cases involve a male factor that no amount of treating the woman will address. Where specialist intervention is genuinely needed we will say so and refer appropriately, but that conclusion should follow investigation rather than precede it.
Talking about things that are hard to raise
Symptoms involving intimacy, contraception, bleeding after intercourse, or discomfort are difficult to raise and are routinely left unmentioned even in a consultation the patient came specifically to have.
Consultations are private, with a female doctor, and nothing is discussed outside your clinical file. You can attend alone or bring someone. If it helps, write your concerns down and hand the note over rather than saying it out loud — a number of patients do this and it works perfectly well.
What to bring
Bring any previous test results, scans or prescriptions, even old ones, and a rough note of your recent cycle dates. Both save time and both change what we recommend.
If you are being seen for suspected hormonal problems, it is worth knowing that some blood tests need to be taken on specific days of the cycle. Message us beforehand and we will tell you which day to come, so the visit and the test happen together.
What affects the cost
Most of the cost here is consultation and investigation. What changes it:
- Consultation, and whether an ultrasound is needed at the same visit
- Which blood tests are indicated — done on site at the same visit
- Whether ongoing management and follow-up reviews are needed
- Whether treatment crosses into another department, such as dermatology for PCOS-related skin and hair
- Loyalty membership, which applies across all four departments
Having the lab on site means the investigation happens at the same visit rather than becoming a separate errand. We will tell you what testing is worth doing and what is not, rather than ordering a broad panel by default.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be seen by a lady doctor?
Yes. Gynaecology consultations are with a female doctor, in a private consultation room. You can confirm who you will be seeing when you book.
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
An appointment is strongly advisable so you are seen at a fixed time and without waiting. Call or message on WhatsApp. If your concern is urgent, say so when you contact us.
Are blood tests done here or do I have to go elsewhere?
On site, at the same visit. This matters more than it sounds: most gynaecological consultations end with a test request, and when that means a separate trip to a separate lab, a great many patients never complete it and never get a diagnosis.
I think I have PCOS. What should I expect?
An assessment of your cycle history and symptoms, hormonal blood tests taken at the right point in your cycle, and usually an ultrasound. Once confirmed, management addresses the hormonal driver, and because dermatology and laser are in the same building, the acne, hair thinning and unwanted hair can be planned alongside rather than separately.
My periods are very painful. Is that normal?
Period pain that interferes with work, study or daily life is not something you should be expected to tolerate. Fibroids, endometriosis and adenomyosis all present this way and all are treatable. Being told to simply cope with it is not an assessment.
Is my consultation confidential?
Yes. Your records are accessible only to the treating clinician, nothing is discussed outside your clinical file, and appointment reminders do not describe what you are being seen for.
We have been trying to conceive. Where do we start?
With basic assessment of both partners before anything expensive is considered. A significant proportion of difficulty conceiving has a straightforward treatable cause, and a meaningful share involves a male factor. We will investigate first and refer to specialist services only if the findings warrant it.
